IKEA bed sizes in the UK

Most IKEA beds sold in the UK now take standard UK mattresses. The exceptions are day beds, children’s beds, some sofa beds and older or European-size frames.

IKEA UK mattress sizes

IKEA’s UK guide says it sells UK mattress sizes from small single to super king. Note that IKEA’s “small single” is 80 × 200 cm, not the 75 × 190 cm small single sold by most UK shops.

European sizes at IKEA

IKEA’s UK beds buying guide also lists NORDLI storage frames in 140 × 200 cm and 160 × 200 cm. Which? warns that an IKEA bed bought some time ago may have been designed for a European mattress, so measure the frame before replacing the mattress on an older IKEA bed. A UK mattress in a European frame will be too small.

Bedding for IKEA beds

For UK-size IKEA beds, any UK bedding fits. For 140 or 160 × 200 cm, look for fitted sheets sold in those exact sizes: a UK king sheet (150 × 200 cm) is too small for a 160 cm mattress, and a UK double sheet (135 × 190 cm) is too short for a 140 × 200 cm one.
